Tissue Totes

I haven't felt like doing much while recovering from getting my tooth pulled...but I have been sewing. Today I finished 5 coffee bags and decided I needed a little break so I whipped up about 30 tissue totes that I had cut out awhile back. Here is a sampling of what I made today!

"1 Potato, 2 Potato...."

With the success of my first Haute Potato Bag, here comes another Haute Potato from the Sasaki Sweat Shop!

Both exterior pockets are accented with a bright red cotton piping and lined with a vibrant red with black polka dot print.

On the inside of the bag, on one side you will find a cell phone pocket and a small divided pocket to fit two pens.

The other side has two pockets 7.5" x 7.5" that are secured with velcro closures.

This bag has a magnetic closure to keep all your items secure.

The strap on this bag is attached to two 2" O-rings. It is a black cotton webbing.

The print on the potato sack says:
(back) "To open pull rip cord across bag"
(Sides)US NO. 1, Potatoes
(front)"Potatoes, packed in Idaho, Western Potato, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401, net WT 50lbs (22.68 k), Produce of..." and there is a portion of the Idaho Potato Commission Logo in the front left hand corner.

This bag is 16" wide, and approx. 13" from the tallest point on the burlap to the bottom of the bag. The shoulder strap is a total of approx 20" long counting the nickle O-rings.

Just like pulling teeth...

So I leave in about an hour to go get my wisdom tooth extracted! It has been bothering me for awhile and I was finally able to get an appointment with the oral surgeon. So it looks like warm jello and strained soup for a few days. I wonder if I will feel good enough to sew or atleast cut out fabric....stay tuned!

Sasaki Bags Now Available on Kauai!

Friday I finished and shipped off a variety of coffee bags for Kauai Coffee Company. I wish them much success and hope that we have a long relationship! They are now carrying the Kukio beach bag style, the Kealakekua shoulder bag style, the Omiyage, small tote, and Xmas stockings both with and without cuffs. Kauai Coffee is also carrying my Coffee Bean Earrings made from Czech glass beads and either sterling silver or 14kt gold filled wires, as well as my Koffee Keys. If you visit their store, drop me a line and let me know what you think!

Shopping Bag

I have been selling this bag at Kona Mountain Coffee for several months now. I originally created it just for customers to use in the retail store so that they wouldn't have to lug around so many bags of coffee. Soon I had to put special tags on them saying that they were just a convenience for the customer and not for sale...but people still kept trying to purchase them! So I made a couple of improvements and this is the bag that you can buy to take home and use in the grocery store instead of "paper or plastic". It is approximately 12" x 10" and 8" tall. It has a hard-board bottom that is removeable.

Tattoos and Denim

This bag is a wristlet. It measures 10" x 6" not including the 13" faux-leather, plum-colored handles.

The exterior of this bag is an embossed heavy-weight denim. There are two exterior pockets that are accented with custom piping made from the lining fabric. Thre is a removable hot-pink, faux-leather, heart shaped pin attached on the front of the bag.

The interior is 100% cotton with a funky print that features pretty girls with tattoos. There are hip looking girls with elaborate tattoos covering their arms, legs, and back. There are also elements of butterflies, rainbows, and hearts on this brightly colored fabric.

There are two interior pockets that are accented with custom piping.

This bag closes with a magnetic snap closure.

Kimono Keys on Kauai

While on Kauai I met a great gal named Marjorie Desouza. She has a wonderful store in Kapaa's Coconut Marketplace called Palm Palm. I have decided have my Kimono Keys available on Kauai, exclusively at Palm Palm because it is such a unique shop.

What? You've never heard of "Kimono Keys"? They are my take on the popular key fob. I have imported georgeous kimono from Kanazawa, Japan and make beautiful key fobs out of the vintage silk. They come with a little romance card as shown that invites women to make up their own story about the history of the kimono that they carry a piece of. They are so handy when just running into a store so there is no more digging to the bottom of your purse upon your return to find the keys! Also, when walking the dog, just slip a kimono key on your wrist.

When on the island of Kauai, be sure to check out Marjorie's shop, Palm Palm. Tell her Barb Sasaki sent you and that you are dying to see her supply of Kimono Keys!

August looks like a busy month!

While on Kauai, I was asked to create some sample bags for Kauai Coffee Company. These bags were made for them. It is my hope to expand Sasaki Bags to the island of Kauai.
